Before you can be matched with a suitable donor, blood tests will need to be carried out. Occasionally, we may require a letter from your GP stating there are no contra-indications to you carrying a pregnancy.

This appointment involves taking a full medical history, discussing your requirements and answering any questions you may have.

If you wish to proceed with treatment, you will be required to complete a Donor Characteristics form.

We will provide you with a choice of suitable donated embryos matching your physical characteristics.

Although regulations state that donors can remain anonymous, we will provide you with the following information on the donor:

• Age
• Complexion
• Body build
• Hair colour
• Height
• Weight
• Eye colour
• Education
• Profession
• Country of origin

Every patient undergoing treatment with us must have a counselling session. We will arrange an appointment for you with our independent counsellor to discuss the full implications of embryo donation.

During this appointment, your screening results will be reviewed and you may require a transvaginal ultrasound scan.

At this stage, you are ready to begin treatment. Your patient coordinator/nurse in the UK will plan your treatment with your coordinator in Cyprus. You will be provided with medication and a treatment plan to follow. You will have further scans to confirm the suitability of the lining of the womb for embryo transfer.

Embryo(s) will be thawed on the chosen day of transfer. A transfer is carried out using a soft catheter that is passed through the cervix. After your embryo transfer, you can return home. You will be advised on the dose of medication to continue taking by the team in Cyprus.

If the result is positive:

Please call us to inform us of the result. Your medication regime will be continued until the 12th week of pregnancy. We will arrange a scan for you.

If the result is negative:

If the test result is negative, please contact your nurse/coordinator for advice on medication. We would advise you to have a follow-up consultation whenever you feel ready.
